Poison Prevention - Safeguard Your Family and Home

What happens if someone splashes bleach into their eyes? What if you breathe in toxic fumes while painting your bedroom? The poison control center has databases of all chemicals and medications available in the United States.

The National Poison Control hotline is 1-800-222-1222 and the nurses and doctors are available 24 hours a day.

The staff will also advise you regarding overdoses. For example, if your 3-year-old child takes 20 pills of Tylenol because they thought it was candy, what would you do? What happens if you take 2 doses of your blood pressure medicine by mistake? The staff will guide you on home treatments and then what to expect when you go to emergency department.

This phone number should be saved on your cell phone and written next to all telephones in your house or office. You never know when a chemical exposure or overdose can occur.
